Nature & Peace

In the present state of the world, leaders of major countries have the ability and power to be able to stop the destruction of Mother Earth’s environment. And have an even greater power to intervene or influence, as peacemakers worldwide. In many cases instead, we are witnessing one world calamity after another, with one fire starting as one seems to go out, leaving in its wake death, destruction and homeless children and devastated widows.
Most people, all over the world have one common dream: the desire to run away to the freedom of the surroundings offered by our precious Mother Earth. To feel and touch the trees; the green herbal leaves in the bushes; to experience the beauty of the morning glories and so many other heavenly scenting flowers that abound in nature. To listen to the sound of birds singing as they flutter their wings in the sky; the purity of blue clear unpolluted drinking water; to smell the fresh country air filling their lungs as they close their eyes, smile and take a deep breath. Sadly, for most it is rapidly becoming more like a hopeless, unfeasible fantasy with each passing day. Ninety percent of the humans on this planet, spend so much of their time within a city surrounding that sometimes causes them to experience unknown illnesses or disorientation of heart and mind. Many regular Doctors are finding these symptoms harder to diagnose. With many doctors reverting to the use of holistic type herbal medicines, still being used today by the American Indian Medicine Man. More and more today, much of the world population is becoming a steady visitor of psycho-analysts and psychiatrists, who are sometimes suffering from the same symptoms as their clients: a longing hunger for the beauty of Mother Nature and for a world of positive and loving Peace.
The day that inventor geniuses such as Henry Ford created the “assembly line” type factory to introduce his Model T Ford automobile, which motorized and revolutionized America, it brought about the swift demise of the horse as a mode of transportation and started the wheels rolling for the introduction of a new word, “Speed”. This was only the beginning. Soon after, people like the Wrights Brothers and Charles Lindberg made world news with an even faster way of getting from points A to points Z, and the world took to the skies. Today every country is but hours away because of it. Speed has been promoted and pressed upon the world’s population without consideration or thought of the damaging effect to the human mind and body.
With the arrival of the Computer and all the related technologies that have followed, there is no doubt that the old world is disappearing at an alarming rate. This change is only recognized by an older generation of non-conformists that will have little or nothing to do with the new “fangled” technology. These people were still lucky enough to grow up with an opportunity to enjoy a surrounding of Mother Nature and the wonderful peace that it brings: they are finding this radical change extremely hard to understand or adjust to, for they are used to a pace of serenity that only Nature and peace can bring.
A more convenient and easier way of living is offered today because of all the “faster-than-a-bullet” modern technology: but how many can really afford such a lifestyle? As hard as people try to stretch their weekly or monthly finances, there is still little money left in order to afford any of the conveniences that are so aggressively advertised with high powered commercials and words on: Television, Radio, Newspapers, Magazines, flyers and the Internet. The products advertised are supposed to make life easier and better. But do we really need all these technological conveniences that come with thick manuals, that sometimes seem, as if they were written by people from another planet, and that most of the time we find hard or impossible to read and understand?
The demand for the human brain’s thinking, alone is no longer necessary, sad to say that we no longer use more than 10% of its power. It is more the speed of the computer that is becoming more and more important, thus causing the favorite word of the 21 century to emerge and take its place as the most prominent word to come from the world’s mouth in a long time, ”STRESS”. Even highly trained experts in the field of computers find the need to escape or run away at times from the prolonged time spent with this new technology. We cannot say, that the computer is an entirely bad invention. In fact, it is the miracle of the 21st Century. It brings a new and most wonderful way to communicate and research to our fingertips, and the world has become a closer community because of it. But, must we take it to bed with us, or while on vacation on the beach? It is the misuse by some individuals and the amount of use by many others that is an alarming disturbance to some specialists in the study of human behavior.

How do we try to manage and take control of the alarming situation of “speed” and “stress” that is becoming so rampant that it almost seems like an ordinary part of life today? It is not easy, but not impossible. First, we must “re-learn” to learn. Let me explain: the time for us to learn about learning was a long way back, maybe the year before we started pre-school or Kinder-Garden. This means that it was our parents’ responsibility to guide our mind and to teach us the meaning behind the word “learning”. Many people throughout the world do not know the real meaning of many important key words such as: listening, learning, respect and love. So what we must do, as soon as possible, is to take control of the most precious and priceless possession the Creator has given us, “our mind” and restructure many of the ways we think.

What chance do our children have if we do not start helping them and teaching them the values and the need of an undisturbed Mother Earth’s Nature, and the importance of local and world tranquility?

We cannot teach what we ourselves did not learn and have probably been doing wrong since our childhood. Neither can we blame our own parents, as so many tend to do, for they probably tried their best, and only passed on to us a way of teaching inherited from their own fathers and mothers. Mothers and fathers must have closer communication with each other and discuss the simple logical ways that they can employ to, better guide the lives of their children.

Today, when many of the parents of the world have to, both go to work in order to have the convenience of a reasonable decent lifestyle, communication has to be even stronger, because the majority of the children today spend more time at school with a teacher, than with their own parents: so the mode of communication has to be continuous and very closely monitored. The most effective formula is one that includes unpretentious love and respect: “Spending more time with the family, touching and talking from the heart.” Otherwise, we will continue passing on our inherited bad habits to brand new life, our children

We never know who could be a possible candidate for a world leader of the future. If the world is to have a better day, it is up to our children to bring it about. If the world is to experience a beautiful, and most necessary “Mother Nature”, we must ensure that our children are aware of all the mistakes our world leaders are making today. Only if they are truly aware, and understand the structure of good, honest and conscientious world leadership can we ever hope to stop the destruction of our precious and crying Mother Earth. Our children should learn and understand what really makes a true loving world leader: a peacemaker that thinks before he speaks, and promotes brotherhood and sisterhood for the entire small world we live in today. This can only be accomplished through harmony, unity, understanding and love for all mankind.
Our children may some day grow up to be in a position of leadership. The future is up to them and we must assure their readiness to truly understand Mother Earth and her fragile environment: They must learn about, and understand the needs of others, and to truly have respect for peoples of all colors and creeds. Only then will we have the feeling of trust and certainty that comes from a true leader. One will speak, not for just one, but for all in complete fair-ness. A leader with complete understanding and listening heart for Mother Earth who today cries over the destruction of her Natural Resources. One who has compassion and cares about the senseless death of so many human beings whose children and widows, today have nowhere to turn for a long and lasting world of peace.
Statistically, it would only take 25 years to teach a generation of children to think positively if we dedicate ourselves to devoting the proper time to guide and teach our children the important values of respect and love that we lack right now for each other. Mr. Fidel Castro rid himself of what he considered the undesirable Cubans and in 25 years he actually created a Cuba of his own liking with a new group of followers. This is just an example, of course.
American Indians never had books to learn from. They had to learn to learn, with the word, “listening” being a major part of their learning process. Indian children learned about their Culture and language by listening. They were taught the art of learning at a very young age. Out of a population of 1.9 million American Indians, which is comprised of, 554 different Indian Nations or Tribes, there are many diverse Cultures and over 300 different Languages that are spoken. Despite the many differences, we all agree without question on the power and spiritual energy of Mother Earth: “We love and have great respect for Mother Earth”. Our daily life revolves around Her, and not a day goes by that we do not give thanks to her for all she gives in order that we might survive. We have always believed that everything upon her lap is filled with life. Even the stones are alive

How long will she survive at the rate that the world is depleting her resources? The white way of thinking has always been, that it does not matter that we waste so much paper in the world, so long as we can still go to the nearest forest and cut down more of Her children trees. And it does not matter if we pollute our waterways, we can always dig into her belly and she will give us more. We make cavities into her beautiful mountains to search for supposedly precious minerals, some used in a destructive manner. How long can we survive without her? One of my favorite sayings is very appropriate just about now: “Mother Earth does not belong to us. We are but a small part of her soul”.
